Wonder Woman 1984: Everything You Need To Know
Gal Gadot is set to return as Diana/Wonder Woman. The first Wonder Woman did exceptionally well and was appraised by both the fans and critics. The movie became a surprising standout among big names like Batman VS Superman and Justice League.
Patty Jenkins will be directing the movie again, while we will be seeing Diana facing an enemy after 70 years of previous movie events.
The Release Date
The movie is set to be released on June 4, 2020.
The Reason For Delay
The movie was previously set to be released on November 2019. However, it shifted to summer next year, which was announced by Gal Gadot on her Twitter handle.
Charles Roven, the film producer, said that they always wanted the 2020 date. The studio, however, felt that with a fantastic end to 2018, they had to have an amazing 2019 ending too. The pre-production was rushed since Patty was also on TNT show. The studio wanted the movie to be released, so the post-production schedule was hastened too. In the end, they agreed that the 2020 date was more suitable for the film and gave extra time.
What will the movie be about?
The movie is set in 1984, and Diana will be facing the villain Cheetah. He is an anthropologist from Britain who got his powers from a cheetah god. His abilities in the comic books included super strength, agility and speed, night vision, and enhanced reflexes. You can think of it as Catwoman but in Cheetah form.
Gal Gadot focused that the movie is not a sequel at San Diego Comic-Con. The film has its own story, and it is a brand new movie. Gadot went on to say that they knew the expectations are high, and so are their efforts.
The Cast
The cast for Wonder Woman 1984 is going to be:
- Gal Gadot returns as Diana/Wonder Woman
- Chris Pine in the role of Steve Trevor
- Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaid and Ghostbusters) will be playing Barbara Minerva AKA Cheetah.
- Pedro Pascal in an unknown role.
- Connie Nielsen as Diana’s Mother.
- Robin Wright as Diana’s aunt.
Steve back for the Wonder Woman 1984?
Yes, Steve Trevor, who appeared to have died in the first movie. The guy who, if he has not died, will certainly will be in his 90s as he seemed to be in his 30s in the first flick. There are a lot, a whole lot of theories as to how Steve is in the movie. The most obvious of them is that it is a hallucination and nothing else.
The Trailer
There has not been a trailer released yet, but the fans are reasonably confident that one will be dropped before the year ends. The Wonder Woman team did not attend the San Diego Comic-Con this year. However, Jenkins announced that they would start the marketing campaigns from December.
The trailer is expected to play before the theatrical release of Star Wars’ latest installment. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is one of the most anticipated movies of 2019, so a trailer release is set to catch a lot of attention for the film.
Wonder Woman will be following Aquaman’s shoes, as Aquaman also had a five-month prior trailer release. Gal Gadot is shown to wear armor in the movie posters which is going to be interesting too.
